Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Academy in Flushing, New York and St. Leo the Great Catholic School San Antonio, Texas are pleased to announce that their students are piloting a new pen pal exchange for students enrolled in the immersion language classes at their schools, which are founding members of the Two-Way Immersion Network for Catholic Schools (TWIN-CS) at Boston College. The 3rd and 5th grade students of OLTCA participated in a religion bee.
A parent at Resurrection Ascension Catholic Academy in Rego Park put together a wonderful video celebrating the academy and the work that they do.
The first graders made homemade snowflakes as their hands on experiment for their Sequence Unit in Science class. They also wrote reports on what they had done.
8th Grade figures out how to use Scientific Notation in real life.
4th Grade is Number 1!
The fourth grade has succeeded in Achieve 3,000! They have ranked number 1 out of the whole school for reading. This program requires students to read an article and then participate in a series of activities based on that information to get points.
The second graders performed at the Junior High Honors Assembly last week.
The 7th graders put on a beautiful nativity scene for the entire school in Church on Friday, December 15, 2017. Parents and grandparents attended as well.
The St. Edmund Elementary School Robotics Team, “The Nerd Herd”, under the direction of Mr. Michael Zwosta, competed in the First Lego League’s Hydro Dynamic Challenge. The group worked to research a problem within the human water cycle and design a solution using a robot that could improve the way people find, transport, use or dispose of water. The challenge culminated the Team’s work for the first half of this academic year. The Nerd Herd will now go on to perfect the abilities of their robot, and begin the process of preparing for next year’s challenge, Inter- orbit Space Exploration.
OLTCA celebrated their annual Christmas Concert this week.
The students of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Academy generously gave back! Each year, they work with Our Lady of Mercy Church and St. Michael’s Church in Brooklyn. Their students buy Christmas Gifts for children (of all different age groups) of those parishes that are in need of a brighter Christmas. This is such a humbling day for the children as they are taught a very valuable lesson…it is better to give than receive
. 
Each child (from Pre3 to 8th grade) were able to present their gifts to the representatives of the churches. By the time they were done, the stage was full of Christmas presents!
