Our Lady’s Catholic Academy (OLCA) partners with performing artists to celebrate the cultural and artistic heritage of the school and community with a dynamic Parade of Nations on June 1st and 2nd.
Jamaica Drum Jam, an organization that brings music education and performances to low and moderate income individuals in Jamaica, Queens, and surrounding neighborhoods in New York City, will be working with our students to lead a Latin American Samba, a West African Groove and Caribbean Rhythms in our Parade of Nations.Young Audiences New York will work with us to showcase Chinese, Irish and other cultures through dance, while Trinidad & Tobago and Guyanawill be represented by a popular performing artist and the thrilling beats of tassadrums! These are just a few of ourdynamic planned performances!
There will be a Passport to World Cuisines and other highlights, like Dynamic Martial Arts Academy’s GangamStyle Ninja demo. Our exciting vendors include Dan Springer, Caricature Artist, AirbuzzHenna Tattoos & Airbrushed t-shirts,Maui WowiHawaiian Fruit Smoothies, Creative Memories, Pampered Chef and much more! Kids will be excited to see our Marvel Superhero and Nick Jr. surprise guests!
Over 20 amazing themed gift baskets will be raffled, including Crayola, Nick Jr., Disney Jr., Marvel Superheroes, Kitchen Gadgets, Fun in the Sun and Hot off the Grill!Raffle for Free Tuition! Our Lady’s Catholic Academy is a diverse, child-centered Catholic elementary school that proudly serves the South Ozone Park community. The school was founded in September 2009, under the direction and guidance of the Board of Directors, at the former home of Saint Anthony of Padua School, 125-18 Rockaway Boulevard. In September 2012, it expanded into a second campus at the former home of Saint Teresa of Avila School, 109-55 128thStreet.
CultureFest officially opens at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 1st, following the school’s Renaming Mass & Ceremony at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 11:00 am, 109-26 130th Street, South Ozone Park, NY. Guests of Honor include 31st District Assemblywoman Michele Titus, Food Network Chef Jehangir Mehta, esteemed members of the Brooklyn Diocese and community leaders .OLCA will honor & pay tribute to the St. Teresa of Avila School, its alumni and former administration & staff.
