With the sea of protests throughout Spain, Pope Benedict encouraged the youth to hold onto their faith.
In 2011, waves of protest swept through Spain’s capital. This unrest highlighted not only the social and economic difficulties in Spain, but also brought the crisis of faith to the forefront of World Youth Day. Pope Benedict XVI said, addressing the crowd at Cuatro Vientos airport, “So do not keep Christ to yourselves! Communicate the joy of your faith with others!”
