Pope John Paul II chose the Philippines for this visit. It was the only Catholic country in Asia. This particular World Youth Day was the most attended, there were over 4 million pilgrims. Pope John Paul II said to the youth, “How does Jesus send you?…He gives you just grace and truth. He sends you out with the powerful message of his Paschal Mystery, with the truth of his Cross and Resurrection. That is all he gives you, and that is all you need.”
