DeSALES MEDIA LAUNCHES PRAYER SITE FOR THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN

DeSales Media Group has launched a new bilingual online prayer community entitled Pray For Me (Reza por Mí). Located at www.dioceseofbrooklyn.org/prayforme, the site enables users to submit their own intentions and also to pray for others who have posted on the site.

“Inspired in Pope Francis’ prayer request refrain ‘Please, pray for me’, we wanted to provide a place where people can request prayers as well as pray for each other’s intentions. Pray for Me is very simple to use, to ask for support, pray for one another, and create a community of prayer,” said Monsignor Kieran Harrington, Chairman of DeSales Media Group.

Pray For Me provides a uniquely Catholic aspect to prayer intentions. The Sisters Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará, a contemplative order of nuns cloistered in Borough Park, Brooklyn, will be praying for all submitted intentions from 5:45 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. DeSales Media submits intentions on a daily basis to the nuns, who spend their lives in silence, adoration, and prayer.

The site features two options: “Request a Prayer” and “Pray for Someone.” Users select a prayer topic (Depression, Grief, Family, Finances, Healing, Marriage, Vocations, etc,), type in their personal message, and select whether they would like their prayer posted on the page so community members can pray for them. There is also an option to email the intention to the person that one is praying for. In addition, users can choose to pray for another person by reading the intentions listed on the right-hand side of the site, and clicking the “I prayed for you” button.

BROOKLYN DIOCESE WELCOMES POPE FRANCIS WITH LARGEST PAINTED BILLBOARD IN NYC

DeSales Media Group, the communications and technology arm of the Diocese of Brooklyn, will welcome Pope Francis to the New York metropolitan area with a 225-foot tall billboard in the middle of the Big Apple.

Earlier this week, from sunrise to sunset, a team started hand painting a welcoming message at one of New York’s busiest intersections, the corner of Eighth Avenue and 34th Street in Manhattan. The corner is conveniently located outside Pennsylvania Station and the iconic Madison Square Garden arena, which will host the Holy Father’s September 25th Mass. The billboard will generate more than 700,000 impressions each week and will be visible throughout September.

TWO PRIESTS TO BE ORDAINED BISHOPS FOR THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN

On Monday, July 20th, at 2 p.m., the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, will ordain two new bishops for the Church in Brooklyn and Queens at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, 856 Pacific Street, Prospect Heights. Pope Francis appointed the Very Reverend James Massa, 54, and the Reverend Canon Witold Mroziewski, 49, as auxiliary bishops of Brooklyn in May.

Co-consecrating bishops will be the Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop of Rockville Centre, and the Most Reverend Raymond Chappetto, Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn and Vicar General for the Diocese. They will be joined by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States; His Eminence Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York; His Eminence Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Archbishop-Emeritus of Washington, D.C.; His Excellency Bernardito Auza, Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Observer of the Holy See Mission to the United Nations; His Excellency Charles Chaput, Archbishop of Philadelphia; in addition to over 28 archbishops and bishops from across the United States and the world, including Bishop Artur Mizinski, Secretary General of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, and Archbishop-Emeritus Juliusz Paetz of the Archdiocese of Poznan.

BISHOP DIMARZIO ORDAINED 10 NEW PRIESTS FOR BROOKLYN AND QUEENS

On Saturday, June 27, 2015, the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, ordained ten men to the priesthood for the Diocese of Brooklyn at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, Prospect Heights.

“You come to us from individual different backgrounds, from different ethnicities and cultures, from different families. You mirror clearly today what is the Diocese of Brooklyn,” said Bishop DiMarzio to the new priests during the ordination homily. “So today we recognize that all of us come with one language, the language of the Holy Spirit.”

Last week we were all stunned to learn of the murder of worshipers at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. My prayers and that of the entire Catholic Community in Brooklyn and Queens are with the Emanuel AME community and the people of South Carolina. As worshipers returned to Mass on Sunday, there is no doubt it was difficult to pray and worship among grief and anger. But they have shown the world how faith can overcome even the most evil act. In light of the Haitian deportations in the Dominican Republic

WHY: In light of the beginning of deportations of Haitians living in the Dominican Republic, some born there, Bishop DiMarzio has called together the Dominican and Haitian communities in a Mass of Peace and Solidarity with those being deported. “We will pray for a change of heart on the part of the Dominican government in this humanitarian crisis,” said Bishop DiMarzio.

NET TV to Premiere Documentary in Anticipation of Pope Francis’ Environmental Encyclical

On Sunday, June 14th, New Evangelization Television (NET TV) will premiere its original production Custody + Creation, a moving environmental documentary about the care of creation and the role of the faithful.

Assessing the state of the Planet Earth and the imminent threat of climate change, Custody + Creation focuses on the Church’s reaffirmation of the biblical custody of the Earth, the dignity of creation, and human ecology. The documentary comes in anticipation of Pope Francis’ encyclical letter on the environment, to be published on June 18th.
