Office of Communications

The Office of Communications is the conduit by which Bishop Robert Brennan and other officials of the Diocese of Brooklyn convey information, statements, pastoral letters, and related material to the public through print and electronic media. It also provides advice and counsel to parishes and schools on news-related issues that may pertain to them. Read more »

Office of Faith Formation

The Office of Faith Formation of the Diocese of Brooklyn offers lifelong and comprehensive formation in the Catholic Faith to all persons so that they may become disciples of Jesus and witnesses to the Gospel. We realize this mission through servant leadership that promotes faith formation for children, youth, adults, families, and all persons of special needs in a variety of settings in our multi-cultural, totally urban diocese.  Through our ministry, we collaborate with other diocesan agencies and pastoral leaders in forming genuinely holy people actively engaged in the New Evangelization.

Office of the Tribunal

The Diocesan Tribunal serves as an extension of the Bishop’s ministry of justice in the world. The Church has a long tradition of maintaining its own legal system, called “canon law”; the Tribunal is, in effect, the “court” for that system.

Much of our work surrounds the process of marriage annulment, an often misunderstood concept. We hope these pages will clarify what an annulment is, and answer most of your questions. The Tribunal also works to resolve questions of authority and jurisdiction within the Church, and serves to protect the rights of both institutions and individuals.

Investment Option Changes – Participant Notification

Introducing Important Changes for
Diocese of Brooklyn 403(b) Plan

The Diocese of Brooklyn 403(b) Plan is a great way to save for retirement.  Our goal is to continue helping you build a more secure financial future by providing a wide array of investment options.  The investment option changes become effective December 1, 2011. This is the “Fund Replacement Date.”

 How the Changes Impact You

On the Fund Replacement Date, certain investment options will no longer be available.  If you currently direct your contributions into one or all of these current investment options, your investment direction and balances in these current investment options will be redirected, or “mapped”, as illustrated in the attached table, unless you direct otherwise at least 3 business days prior to the Fund Replacement Date.

Changes to your investment allocations can be made through the participant website at www.bcgbenefits.com. Select ‘Plan Participant Login’ to access your account and make changes to future allocations and/or existing balances under the ‘Transaction’ page. If you have any questions, please contact our Participant Services Department at (800) 524-4015, option 4.

If you want to move your funds in any of the investments being replaced to funds other than the “mapped” investments, you must make your investment changes no later than November 28, 2011, which is 3 business days prior to the Fund Replacement Date

Rett Syndrome

Stair-climbing may not be a groundbreaking experience to the average Joe, but if you saw Bella, Isold, or Sammi’s dress rehearsal last weekend, you would realize: it is.

They are three girls who live with Rett, a neurological genetic disorder that mainly affects girls. Children with Rett usually develop normally to between six and 18 months, before losing acquired speech and hand skills. More than half of the girls with Rett live in wheelchairs, have seizures, and rely on feeding tubes for their nutrition. Read more »
