Passing Of Monsignor John A. Burns

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Monsignor John A. Burns, retired senior priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn.

Monsignor Burns was born on August 2, 1922 in Yonkers, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 22, 1948, and died Monday, January 8, 2018, at Coney Island Hospital. Monsignor Burns served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of Mary Queen of Heaven (Brooklyn), Temporary Administrator of Guardian Angel, (Brooklyn) and as Parochial Vicar of St. Sebastian (Woodside) and St. Ephrem (Brooklyn). On February 25, 1988, he was named Prelate of Honor to His Holiness.
