COLLARS VS. SCHOLARS BASEBALL GAME ANNOUNCED AS PART OF CATHOLIC SCHOOL NIGHT AT THE CYCLONES GAME
The Diocese of Brooklyn today announced Catholic School Night at MCU Park in Coney Island will be celebrated on Monday, June 17, as part of the Brooklyn Cyclones game against the Aberdeen IronBirds.
Prior to the start of the Cyclones’ game, a contest between “Collars vs. Scholars”, will take place on the field at 5:45 PM. This match-up will feature baseball played between priests and principals/school administrators. Auxiliary Bishop Paul Sanchez and Dr. Tom Chadzutko, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for Brooklyn and Queens, are among those set to play.
Ed Wilkinson, Editor Emeritus of The Tablet, will serve as the umpire for this very special pre-game baseball challenge. A bobblehead doll has been created for the 2018 MVP of the Scholars team, Sister Shirlee Tremont of St. Bernadette Catholic Academy, who will be again taking the field this year.
The pre-game activities will also feature a ceremony honoring Catholic elementary school valedictorians and salutatorians brought to you by Catholic Telemedia Network (CTN).
