Marketing Specialist for Catholic Schools and Academies

The Marketing Specialist for Catholic Schools and Academies’ responsibility is to execute the proactive implementation of effective marketing outreach and information dissemination strategies in order to support the mission of Catholic elementary schools and academies within the Diocese of Brooklyn, with identified targets to increase enrollment and benefactors.

Summary of Major Job Accountabilities

Develop and execute marketing strategies and campaigns in support of the Office of the Superintendent ~ Catholic School Support Services’ mission, primarily targeting external audiences. This requires understanding importance of foreign language media outlets, including Spanish-speaking media; secondarily colleagues and those active in the Catholic schools and academies in Brooklyn and Queens.  There should be some correlation with the results of the Latino Study that is presently in 24 schools and academies

Charged with the full implementation of a Diocesan Marketing and Recruitment Plan collaborating with various agencies throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn, specifically the Office of Communications and Futures in Education, in addition to the Office of the Superintendent ~ Catholic School Support Services.

Produce and disseminate often-nuanced communications products (e.g. press backgrounders, media packets, news releases brochures, content for websites) that are strategic and on-message about Catholic education, its programs and policies. Prepare press materials for direct marketing efforts.

Work collaboratively with Press Secretary, Futures in Education and Superintendent of Schools on key tasks and dissemination of message.  Responsible for generation of articles and photos to send to internal and external media outlets.

Ensure that Press Secretary, Futures in Education and Superintendent of Schools are briefed on all media related developments that touch on the life of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn and elsewhere.

Attend Schools’ staff and Preserving the Vision meetings; chair steering committee on marketing and branding for Catholic education in Brooklyn and Queens; work collaboratively with principals, teachers and parents.

Selection Criteria

The incumbent should be Catholic, bilingual in English and Spanish.  Candidates with minimum Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Public Affairs/Journalism/Theology preferred.  Valid drivers’ license and dependable vehicle are required as the successful candidate must be able to travel within Brooklyn and Queens.
