Sister Maryann Seton Lopiccolo is a Sister of Charity – Halifax, who has a background in education and administration. Currently, Sr. Maryann is the Episcopal Delegate for Religious in the Diocese of Brooklyn, a position she has held since 1998 In this role, she serves on many diocesan and national committees and is the President of the National Conference of Vicars for Religious. With experience in formation work, Sr Maryann has been involved in many facets of welcoming new members to religious life and assisting those in formation ministry. She was a presenter for the RFC Orientation Program for new formation directors for many years and has served as a consultant and speaker to many congregations throughout the US.
She received a Masters in Religious Studies from Boston College and a Post Graduate Degree from Fordham University in Spirituality and Spiritual Direction which has enriched her ministry.
Sr. Maryann is a native Brooklynite and now a member of St. Bernadette Parish enjoying the cultural surroundings of her Italian roots. She says, “The diversity of our Diocese is such a gift to us with its many cultures, traditions and expressions of faith. We are both enriched and challenged in this great mix. As we look to our future as a Diocese and work toward supporting our communities of faith, it is so important that we look through the rich lens of our varied heritages and see the one thread of Faith that unites us all. We must be so careful and respectful of the deeper meaning and relationships that our people bring to their church and parishes.”
