Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Patrick G. Burns, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Father Burns was born on March 17, 1961 in Brooklyn, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 23, 1992, and died Friday, December 14, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Rectory.

Father Burns served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of the Parishes of St. Michael (Brooklyn) and St. Martin of Tours-Fourteen Holy Martyrs (Brooklyn), as Administrator of Blessed Sacrament (Jackson Heights), as Parochial Vicar of the Parishes of St. Catharine of Alexandria (Brooklyn), Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians (Woodside) and St. Francis de Sales (Belle Harbor). He also served the Parishes of St. Leo (Corona) and SS. Peter and Paul (Brooklyn). Additionally, he ministered with the Office of Parish Giving.

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Mrs. Esther Iqbal, sister of Reverend Anthony Chanan, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn who is presently ministering as Parochial Vicar of the Church of St. Ephrem, Brooklyn. Mrs. Iqbal died Monday, November 19, 2018 in Pakistan. All arrangements will be taking place in Pakistan.

A memorial service may be held at a later date.

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, would like to communicate the following information regarding Reverend Thomas Sung, CSJB on behalf of the Congregation of St. John the Baptist, who are presently ministering at the Parish of St. John Vianney, Flushing. Father Sung was born on April 23, 1918 in China, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 27, 1951, and died Thursday, November 23, 2018.

Father Sung served in the Diocese of Brooklyn as Chaplain at Our Lady of China Chapel (Elmhurst).

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Monsignor Perfecto Vazquez, retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Pastor Emeritus of the Parish of Guardian Angel. Monsignor Vazquez was born on December 27, 1932 in Calvos, Orense, Spain, was ordained to the Priesthood on July 29, 1956, and died Friday, November 9, 2018 at Elmhurst General Hospital.

Monsignor Vazquez served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of the Parishes of Guardian Angel (Brooklyn), Saint Agnes (Brooklyn) and Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Brooklyn). He also served as Spiritual Director of the Cursillo Center.
