Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Monsignor William J. Rodgers, a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Monsignor Rodgers was born on May 24, 1922 in South Carolina, was ordained to the Priesthood on June 11, 1949, and died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Queen of Peace Residence, Queens Village.

Monsignor Rodgers served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of Saint Lucy-Saint Patrick Parish, as well as Parochial Vicar of the Parishes of Saint Peter Claver (Brooklyn), Saint Benedict the Moor and Saint Patrick (Kent Ave.). He also served as Chaplain of the Queen of Peace Residence. On July 3, 1982, he was named Prelate of Honor to His Holiness. The arrangements are as follows:

Passing of Reverend Joachim B. Fernando

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Joachim B. Fernando, a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Father Fernando was born on March 10, 1935 in Sri Lanka, was ordained to the Priesthood on August 31, 1962, was incardinated into the Diocese of Brooklyn on November 6, 1989 and died Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Sri Lanka, where all arrangements have taken place.

Father Fernando ministered in the Diocese of Brooklyn as Parochial Vicar of the Parishes of Holy Cross (Brooklyn), Saint Malachy (Brooklyn) and Saint Pius X (Rosedale).

Passing of Reverend Lucien Charlot

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Lucien Charlot, retired senior priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, who was in private residence in Florida. Father Charlot was born on November 19, 1931 in Brooklyn, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 28, 1961, and died Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Jackson South Community Hospital.

Father Charlot served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Parochial Vicar of St. Mary Magdalene (Springfield Garden), Our Lady of Victory (Brooklyn) and St. Gregory the Great (Brooklyn). He served as the Chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kings County Hospital and part-time Chaplain at Madonna Residence and Kings County Medical Center.

Passing of Reverend Monsignor Conrad R. Dietz

Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Monsignor Conrad R. Dietz, retired senior priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, who was in residence at the Bishop Mugavero Residence. Monsignor Dietz was born on August 13, 1931, in the Bronx, was ordained to the Priesthood on June 1, 1957, and died Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Northshore Manhasset Hospital.

Monsignor Dietz served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Grace (Howard Beach) and Holy Name of Jesus (Brooklyn). He served as a member of the Faculty at Cathedral College (Brooklyn), Cathedral Preparatory School and Seminary (Elmhurst), Cathedral College (Douglaston), House of Formation (Douglaston), and Cathedral Seminary House of Formation (Douglaston). He also served as Adjunct Professor at Immaculate Conception Seminary (Huntington). On March 10, 1999, he was named Prelate of Honor to His Holiness.

Father Biase was born on September 9, 1943, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 30, 1970, and died Thursday, September 21, 2017.

Father Biase served in the Diocese of Brooklyn at Most Holy Trinity – St. Mary Church (Brooklyn).
