Thursday, December 8, The Diocese of Brooklyn is launching its Christmas campaign called “Put Him on Your List.” Most people celebrating Christmas have long to-do lists. This campaign serves as a reminder for Catholics to make time in their busy schedules to go to Church and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
On Monday, December 12 at noon, the Diocese of Brooklyn will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, 856 Pacific Street, in Prospect Heights, followed by a torch run/walk to 51 Catholic churches throughout Brooklyn and Queens.

On Friday, Dec 9, The Diocese of Brooklyn, with the assistance of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, will be putting up a 25-foot Christmas tree and installing a life-sized, hand-painted nativity at the Grand Army Plaza arch in Brooklyn.

On December 14, 2016, at 7pm, the Co-Cathedral of Saint Joseph will host a spectacular family event that includes The Miracle of Christmas musical, a live concert, a visit from Santa, a tree-lighting ceremony, and a high-tech light show.
The evening will begin with a Christmas concert, featuring performances by Charlie Poveromo and Danny Rodriguez. Read more

Members of the Albanian Community will join parishioners of Saint Athanasius Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn this Sunday, September 25th, in honor of Mother Saint Teresa. The President of the Republic of Albania, Bujar Nishani, born a secular Muslim, will be among distinguished guests as a statue of Saint Teresa is dedicated and blessed. The interfaith and international event will reflect Mother Teresa’s boundless reach as it honors her elevation to Sainthood.

On Sunday, October 2, 2016, Italian Catholics will gather together as one community in prayerful remembrance of all the victims of the earthquakes in Italy that took place one month ago. The Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, will join over two thousand members of the Italian community living in Brooklyn and Queens for a procession and Mass. These community members represent Italian churches, religious clubs and social organizations, all under the umbrella of the Italian Apostolate, which is responsible for ensuring the spiritual needs of Italian immigrants living in Brooklyn and Queens. A “Sacred Heart of Jesus” statue was damaged outside of Saints Peter and Paul Rectory in Williamsburg. Video (click here) shows 3 people approach the statue after 4:30 am on Sunday, September 11, 2016. A man touches his hand to the statue’s hand and then pulls the statue forward, apparently trying to kiss its forehead. He and the group then run off. The police have been contacted.
This is the third time since 2012 that a “Sacred Heart of Jesus” statue outside Saints Peter and Paul rectory has been stolen and/or damaged. Read more
On Sunday, September 11, 2016, a solemn march, Mass, and rare performance of Mozart’s Requiem will pay tribute to FDNY firefighters and all those who lost their lives in the September 11th terror attacks 15 years ago.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m., firefighters from across the country will join New York City’s bravest and families of the fallen at ground zero in lower Manhattan. From there, the group will march 24 flags in single file across the Brooklyn Bridge. Each flag will represent one of 24 firefighters from Battalion 57 in Brooklyn killed in the line of duty at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Their bodies were never recovered. The journey from ground zero to Brooklyn serves to symbolically bring the brothers back home. The procession will also include an FDNY ceremonial flag for every New York City Firefighter killed on 9/11 and an American flag, in remembrance of all who died that day. Read more
