April 17, 2014 – Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio’s schedule for Holy Week was announced today, Holy Thursday. Highlights are below, and you can see the complete schedule here.
Holy Thursday
7:30 p.m.: Bishop DiMarzio will celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi-St. Blaise, located at 319 Maple Street in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Good Friday
10 a.m.: Bishop DiMarzio and Cardinal Timothy Dolan will offer prayers at St. James Cathedral Basilica at 250 Cathedral Place in Downtown Brooklyn. This will be followed by a cross procession across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Noon: A Meditation on the Seven Last Words of Christ, followed by the Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death, at 3 p.m.
6:30 p.m.: Outdoor Good Friday Service will be officiated by Bishop DiMarzio at St. Pancras Church (7222 68th Street in Glendale, Queens) and will end at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal (62-81 60th Place in Ridgewood, Queens).
Saturday
8 p.m.: Easter Vigil at the Church of the Transfiguration (263 Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg). Bishop DiMarzio will baptize four people, and thirteen will be fully initiated into the Catholic Church.
Easter Sunday
8:30 a.m.: Bishop DiMarzio will hold a service at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. This event is closed to press.
