Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend
Michael A. Carrano, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn who was ministering as Pastor of the Parish
of Our Lady of Hope, Middle Village. Father Carrano was born on June 7, 1945, in Brooklyn, New
York, was ordained to the Priesthood on May 30, 1970, and died Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the
Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston.
Father Carrano served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of the Parishes of Assumption of the
Blessed Virgin Mary (Brooklyn) and Our Lady of Hope (Middle Village), as well as Parochial Vicar of
the Parishes of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Brooklyn) and Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and Saint
Stephen (Brooklyn). He also served as Principal of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (Brooklyn),
Director of the Youth Ministry Program of the Catholic Education Office as well as Dean of Queens 6
Deanery.

Father Carrano was a member of the Priests’ Purgatorial Society. All priests are invited to
concelebrate the Liturgy. Please bring your diocesan vestments.
