Currents News to Showcase Catholic Schools Leaders on Special Edition

In conjunction with the start of the national celebration of Catholic Schools Week, New York’s Catholic station, NET-TV, will premiere a special highlighting the Diocese of Brooklyn’s eight new elementary school principals on Sunday, January 26 at 7 p.m.

In this special ‘Open House’ edition of Currents News, viewers will get an inside look at how these leaders are providing a comprehensive academic education to help students reach their full potential. The show will feature new school administrators from Brooklyn and Queens, including:

  • A principal who is shooting for the stars alongside a coach from her days as a college basketball player

  • The nuclear scientist turned educator who’s become an expert in turning waste into something useful

  • A graduate returning to her alma mater as principal, and fulfilling a promise to her younger self

  • The principal who wants to be remembered as the educator who changed students’ lives, and she’s starting by dancing, playing and learning with them

“The principals of our Catholic academies are women and men of vision, hope, and practicality on the cutting edge of a faith-based education. Our principals, with our teachers, are giving today’s students the necessary skills to challenge the status quo and ultimately change the world,” said Deacon Kevin McCormack, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Brooklyn.

The half-hour “Meet the Principals” special will air on Currents News, NET TV’s daily newscast. NET-TV is a cable network featuring news and information with a Catholic point of view and is available in the New York area on Spectrum, channel 97, Cablevision, channel 30, and Verizon FIOS channel 548. Viewers can also watch Currents News on YouTube.
