Overview
Campus Ministry within the Diocese of Brooklyn stands as a dynamic and spiritual hub, dedicated to transforming young disciples into apostles of Christ. Under the thoughtful guidance of Very Reverend James A. Kuroly, Ed. D, and Lucia M. Morales, MPA, the ministry is committed to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, and social growth of young people in the community.
Mission and Vision
At its core, the mission of Campus Ministry is to guide the youth from being followers and students of the Gospel to becoming its messengers and ambassadors. This transformative journey involves a deep dive into the teachings of Christ and his Church, encouraging the youth to be active participants in their parishes and the broader community. The ministry’s vision is clear: to connect young people to the parish community, allowing them to be active contributors at the very heart of the Church. This mission and vision are actualized through the active involvement of the youth in various aspects of parish life, including liturgy, community service, evangelization, and social justice initiatives.
Goals and Pillars
Campus Ministry is driven by three primary goals: empowering the youth in their call to holiness, involving them responsibly in the life and mission of the Catholic faith community, and nurturing them into leaders of today and tomorrow. These goals are supported by the four pillars of Youth Ministry: Eucharistic, Evangelization, Community, Social Justice, and Service. Each pillar plays a vital role in guiding the youth towards living out the mission of the parish and the wider Church.
The Youth Ministry is not just about preparing the young for the future; it’s about recognizing and nurturing them as the present force of the Church, active and vibrant in their faith and actions. Through various programs, retreats, and community involvement, Campus Ministry ensures that the youth are not just at the periphery, but are central to the life and growth of the Church.
