DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN TO HOST BLACK HISTORY MONTH MASS

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, which includes Queens, will welcome Bishop Anthony Narh Asare, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Accra, Ghana, for a Black History Month Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, February 1, 2026.  

The Mass will take place at 4:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, located at 111-50 115th Street in the South Ozone Park section of Queens.  

Auxiliary Bishop Anthony Narh Asare, appointed an auxiliary bishop by the late Pope Francis on February 14, 2023, will serve as the Principal Celebrant and Homilist. He is active in evangelization through the media, specifically Radio Angelus, an online platform in Ghana. 

The Mass, hosted by the Diocese of Brooklyn and its Vicariate Office of Black Catholic Concerns, will celebrate Black history, heritage, shared faith, diversity and the contributions of the Black community. Music will be provided by various parish music ministries, along with members of the Guinean Apostolate.
