Bishop Brennan to Remember Persecuted Christians

For Immediate Release: April 4, 2025

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, will preside over a Mass dedicated to the memory of our present-day Christian martyrs on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 7 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church located at 269 Parkville Avenue in the Kensington section of Brooklyn.

The Aid to the Church in Need’s Courage in Faith initiative will participate in the Mass. Each year during Lent, the initiative commemorates today’s Christian martyrs and those still enduring persecution. The week-long event consists of prayer vigils, Masses, and other programs focusing on Christian persecution.

During the Mass, the names of those who have been persecuted for their Christian faith from the end of 2023 through the entirety of 2024 will be read.

Every year, the Courage in Faith initiative takes place the week before Palm Sunday. Aid to the Church in Need supporters pledge to pray for those who have fallen and those who continue to suffer for our faith during this time.

St. Rose of Lima is the station church for Day 29 of the Brooklyn Diocesan Lenten Pilgrimage. The pilgrimage began on Ash Wednesday and will conclude on Wednesday, April 16, prior to the start of the Easter Triduum, which begins on Holy Thursday and continues through Easter Sunday.

Members of the media are invited to attend.
