BISHOP BRENNAN LEADS SPECIAL MASS FOR THE PEOPLE OF VENEZUELA

For Immediate Release: June 30, 2026

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn which includes Queens, celebrated a special Mass on Monday, June 29, 2026, dedicated to the people of Venezuela, in the wake of the deadly earthquakes that shook the northern part of the country.

The Mass, attended by more than 400 people, was organized by the Diocesan’s Venezuelan Apostolate and held at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church located in the Elmhurst section of Queens.

“Here in Brooklyn and Queens, we do have families from Venezuela and many of them are very worried, very worried. We’re still waiting to hear from loved ones, and to coordinate what’s going to happen next.  It’s very important for us as a whole community, it wasn’t just the Venezuelan Apostolate, but as a whole community we gather because we’re in solidarity with each other, the pain of some of our family is the pain of the family,” said Bishop Robert Brennan.

Bishop Robert Brennan has asked all pastors in Brooklyn and Queens to take up a special monetary collection in their parishes. All donations received by the Diocese of Brooklyn will be sent to Catholic Relief Services to provide humanitarian aid and support relief efforts in Venezuela.

Our Lady of Coromoto is the Patroness of Venezuela. Her feast day is September 11.
