‘SUNDAY IN THE CITY’ PREMIERES ON NET TV WITH 9/11 25TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

Sunday in the City, The Tablet’s new weekly news program, will premiere on NET TV with a special edition Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 7 p.m., marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The new program brings The Tablet’s trusted journalism to television in a fresh, weekly format — connecting the news of New York, the Catholic community, and the world to the people and stories behind the headlines. Sunday in the City will offer viewers a thoughtful look at the week’s most important stories, with reporting that explores faith, culture, community and the issues shaping Catholic life in New York.

Its premiere special, “September 11: 25 Years Later,” will look back at the lives forever changed by September 11, honoring the courage of first responders and survivors, and examining the enduring role of faith in the aftermath of tragedy.

The special will feature:

  • The 25th Anniversary Commemorations
From Ground Zero, where family members will read the names of those killed, to the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, where Bishop Robert Brennan will celebrate Mass following a procession with members of the FDNY, Sunday in the City will bring viewers coverage of the major commemorations.
  • Survivors’ Stories
The special will share the stories of those who lived through September 11.
One survivor escaped the 87th floor of the North Tower just as the South Tower                collapsed. The shoes she wore that day are now part of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum      collection.
Another survivor was not aboard United Flight 175 that morning. In the years since, he     has walked thousands of miles in memory of the flight attendants aboard the hijacked  planes, whom he calls the “first first responders.”
  • The Vow to Never Forget
Sunday in the City will introduce viewers to Diocese of Brooklyn chaplains whose ministry took on a new mission after September 11 and who continue to accompany   survivors and victims’ families.

Sunday in the City will continue each week with compelling reporting from The Tablet and the Diocese of Brooklyn, bringing viewers stories that matter to New York’s Catholic community and beyond. The program will combine news, interviews, features, and analysis with The Tablet’s distinctive perspective — offering a slower, more meaningful look at the people and issues behind the headlines.
