BISHOP ROBERT BRENNAN STATEMENT ON THE INSTALLATION OF NEW YORK ARCHBISHOP RONALD HICKS

For Immediate Release: February 6, 2026

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, which includes Queens, issued the following statement after attending today’s Mass of Installation at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for Archbishop Ronald Hicks:

“Today, I join New Yorkers in celebrating the installation of Archbishop Ronald Hicks as the 11th Archbishop of New York. Archbishop Hicks is a wonderful man and a powerful evangelizer, filled with the spirit of the Gospel. St. Patrick’s Cathedral was filled with great faith, joy, and love.

I’m looking forward to working alongside of Archbishop Hicks as we serve one City together, a rare occurrence in which one city is home to two dioceses.

On this very special day for the Catholic Church in New York, may the faithful unite in prayer for Archbishop Hicks, in gratitude for Cardinal Dolan, and in asking for God’s blessing upon all of us here in New York City.”
