BISHOP BRENNAN TO TAKE PART IN THE GREAT DIOCESAN READ ALOUD

For Immediate Release: March 12, 2025

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, will be reading to the second graders at St. Savior Catholic Academy this Friday, March 14, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the school located at 701 Eighth Avenue in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn.

As part of the weeklong Great Diocesan Read Aloud, sponsored by the Catholic Telemedia Network (CTN), Bishop Brennan will be reading “St. John Bosco and His Great Big Dog,” written and illustrated by Hayley Medeiros.

The book is about the challenges Father John Bosco faced in carrying out his ministry and the gray dog that protected him. This gray dog helped to save Father Bosco’s life on numerous occasions as he worked to carry out his ministry.

This week marks the 7th Annual Great Diocesan Read Aloud sponsored by Catholic Telemedia Network (CTN), a service of DeSales Media. Authors and guest readers are visiting schools and academies throughout Brooklyn and Queens in person or via tele visit. The goal of the Great Diocesan Read Aloud is to encourage school participation in National Reading Month.

The program aims to inspire students to enhance their love of reading by showcasing books they may not have selected to read on their own.

Members of the media are invited to attend.
