Announcement of Death

Reverend Monsignor Joseph C. Mulqueen

Died On: February 6, 2025

 Most Reverend Robert J. Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, regrets to inform you of the death of Reverend Monsignor Joseph C. Mulqueen, a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Monsignor Mulqueen was born on June 23, 1931 in New York, was ordained to the Priesthood on June 1, 1957 and died Thursday, February 6, 2025. 

Monsignor Mulqueen served the Diocese of Brooklyn as Pastor of the Parish of Saint Pius V (Jamaica); and as Parochial Vicar of the Parishes of Saint Robert Bellarmine (Bayside), Saint Bonaventure (Jamaica), and Our Lady of the Angelus (Rego Park). Monsignor Mulqueen also served as Diocesan Judge and Defender of the Bond of the Tribunal, Assistant to the Apostolic Nuncio in Washington, D.C., Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations, and Military Chaplain of the United States Navy. He was in residence at the Parish of Saint Mary (Long Island City) and at the Bishop Mugavero Residence in Douglaston, New York. 

On September 24, 1998, Monsignor Mulqueen was named Prelate of Honor.

Monsignor Mulqueen was a member of the Priests’ Purgatorial Society.
