Act of Contrition

Play Video about 52 Prayers 1080x607 px Week 7 Act of Contrition

The Act of Contrition is an essential prayer in Catholicism, expressing sorrow for sins and a sincere commitment to seek forgiveness and live out God’s will for us. Used in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, helping individuals reconcile with God and restore their spiritual relationship. The prayer reflects humility, repentance, and trust in God’s mercy, fostering personal growth in faith and holiness. Let us ask God to help us turn away from the thing that is holding us back from him.

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.
