STATUE HONORING MOTHER CABRINI TO BE PART OF THE COLUMBUS DAY FLOAT SPONSORED BY THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN

The Diocese of Brooklyn today announced that it will be featuring a Mother Cabrini statue aboard their float which will be part of the 2019 New York City Columbus Day Parade, on Monday, October 14, 2019, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn will get on the float upon its arrival in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral (5th Avenue between East 49th and 50th Streets) at approximately 1:00 p.m.

Mother Cabrini recently received the most votes in the “She Built NYC” competition, which aims to build more statues honoring women. But despite earning this top ranking, a public statue honoring her life is not part of the City’s current plans.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
