The Rev. Msgr. Kieran E. Harrington, V.E. is Vicar for Communications for the Diocese of Brooklyn. He is responsible for overseeing the Diocesan Public Information Office; Government Affairs and Public Policy Office; NET, the cable station of the Diocese of Brooklyn, as well as The Tablet, the newspaper of the Diocese of Brooklyn.
The Diocese of Brooklyn, which also encompasses the borough of Queens, is located in New York City and is the eighth largest diocese in the United States with 1.5 million Catholics. The only entirely urban diocese in the country, it is the port of entry and home of millions of immigrants. The 89 Catholic schools and academies in the Diocese educate over 30,000 students.
The Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio appointed Rev. Msgr. Harrington to his most recent position in December 2006. Prior to that, at the direction of Bishop DiMarzio, he was Director of Government Affairs for the Diocese and a leader of early efforts to bring Education Tax Credit Legislation to the forefront of public policy discussions in Albany.
Rev. Msgr. Harrington is the Rector of the Co-Cathedral of Saint Joseph in the Prospect Heights section of Brooklyn. He graduated cum laude from St. John’s University with a degree in philosophy. He holds a Masters of Divinity degree from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception and a Masters of Business Administration from the NYU Stern School of Business.
