Special Education

Academies and schools, the Office of the Superintendent ~ Catholic School Support Services, and the Department of Education, Diocese of Brooklyn strive to work together to ensure proper placement and appropriate availability and use of resources for students with a wide range of learning abilities.

Academies and schools provide various services for students with special needs, such as SETSS and Title I services in reading and math. Services differ school by school, so please contact the academy or school you are interested in to set up a meeting and find out if your child’s IEP accommodations can be made.

The Catherine Laboure Special Education Program is a specific school within the diocese which provides academic, vocational and/or life skills services to students in elementary and high school with learning disabilities, speech impairment or intellectual disabilities. They are both New York State approved and affiliated with the Diocese of Brooklyn under the auspices of the Department of Education, Diocese of Brooklyn.
