Upon completing the Lay Ministry Program, all commissioned pastoral leaders join the Alumni Association.  The Association provides for activities such as the Alumni Association Newsletter, retreats, educational opportunities and other activities.

The Alumni Association is directed by an Executive Committee that is made up of members from each commissioned class.  This committee is responsible for providing resources and designing events for all commissioned pastoral leaders, such as retreats and other gatherings.

Every member of the Alumni Association who has a valid email address receives the Alumni Association Newsletter and monthly Eblasts.  Continuing education opportunities, alumni news, events and other important items are communicated through the Newsletter and Eblasts.  The Newsletter is published twice a year – a Fall/Winter edition and a Spring/Summer edition.

All commissioned pastoral leaders are encouraged to participate in the opportunities offered through the Alumni Association.

The Pastoral Institute, through its partnership with the University of Notre Dame’s Satellite Theological Education Program (STEP), is pleased to offer the opportunity for commissioned pastoral leaders to continue their education through online theology courses.

STEP has more than 40 courses available online, and all are designed with the adult learner in mind. Most are six weeks long and require about a 3-5 hour commitment each week. With a Diocese of Brooklyn 50% discount, all courses will be less than $50. Go to STEP’s homepage to create an account and register for a course.
