Development Coordinator and Liaison – Futures In Education

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Coordinator and Liaison is responsible for coordinating the development activities of the Catholic elementary academies in Brooklyn and Queens. He/she will work with the academy board of directors to establish development committees; then work with those committees to establish and eventually execute development plans. The ultimate goal is to establish a fully functioning, self-sufficient development program at each academy. In addition, the person will act as a liaison for the different entities involved in development activities for the academies. This includes the academy boards and their development committees, Futures in Education – the scholarship organization of the Diocese of Brooklyn and the Office of the Superintendent. As a liaison, he/she will meet regularly with all involved parties and ensure the direction for academy development efforts remains consistent with the overall academic and development goals of the Diocese.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet regularly with Futures in Education and Office of the Superintendent to provide status updates, discuss strategies, give assessments on program results
  • Execute a multi-phase plan with each academy to:
    • Form a development committee
    • Create a development plan
    • Ensure the appropriate infrastructure is in place
    • Ensure the necessary resources are available
    • Execute the development plan
  • Work regularly with the academy development committees, at different phases to assist with development strategies and to review results
  • Assess academy development plan and executive and provide analysis and feedback
  • Foster relationships between the academy development committees and Futures in Education staff to ensure the academies are utilizing the available development resources, especially in regard to major gift outreach
  • Foster relationships between the academy development committees and the Office of the Superintendent to ensure the academies have the direction and resources required to remain in line with Preserving the Vision goals
  • Develop templates for use with donor solicitation and cultivations
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Minimum of four years overall work experience and two years professional development experience
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to meet at various academy locations
  • Required to work nights and weekends where appropriate
  • Familiarity with donor management systems
