The M.A. Scholarship Program in Theology provides financial assistance to those persons who are studying to become Parish Catechetical Leaders or Pastoral Associates in a parish. Persons who serve in diocesan leadership will also be considered.
Sponsor of the Program
The School of Evangelization sponsors the program which is administered by the Pastoral Institute. Financial assistance may be provided by the Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens through the John Paul II Fund for Lay Leadership and the Pastoral Institute Scholarship Fund.
Components of the Program
Spiritual Formation: theological reflection groups, prayer, liturgical life in the parish.
Academic Preparation: the completion of a Master’s Degree or Graduate Certificate in Theology, Pastoral Ministry or Religious Studies.
Students study at St. Joseph’s Seminary, St. John’s University and Fordham University. St. John’s and Fordham provide discounted tuition to students who are sponsored by the School of Evangelization.
