Propagation of the Faith

The Propagation of the Faith is part of the Pontifical Mission Societies which include the Missionary Childhood Association and the Society of St. Peter, Apostle. Together they are the main fundraising organizations for the missionary work of the Church.

Our office organizes the annual Diocesan Mission Cooperative Program (DMCP), also known as the Summer Mission Appeal, which invites missionaries from around the world to preach in the parishes of Brooklyn and Queens.

We coordinate the three annual mailings which encourage donations to the missions, one for each society. We organize the annual World Mission Sunday Mass, each penultimate Sunday of October, where awards are given to Catholic elementary schools and high schools and parish faith formation programs that have been generous to the Missionary Childhood Association.

We accept donations of mass stipends for individual masses, Triduum, Novena and Gregorian masses via Mass Cards; the stipends are given to visiting missionary priests who come to the office. Mass cards are not only for deceased persons, but for various occasions and needs. Annuities are also available through the National Office. Catholic calendars for parishes are ordered through our office.   We accept and distribute new and used vestments and sacred vessels donated to us by parishes and individuals which are greatly needed in mission lands.
