Job Title: COORDINATOR-ADOLESCENT FAITH FORMATION
Department/Office: OFFICE OF FAITH FORMATION

The Coordinator of Adolescent Faith Formation is responsible for assisting pastors, parish staffs and pastoral councils to develop and implement adolescent faith formation initiatives. He/she will also train and support youth and youth ministers in programming, and collaborate with Catholic high school religion teachers and campus ministers in promoting the faith formation of young people through the Diocese.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the needs of parishes and clusters seeking to develop or enhance adolescent faith formation and youth ministry.
- Assist parishes with resources, model programs and overall training when the sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated among high school students.
- Provide training courses that respond to the Bishops’ letter “Renewing the Vision” and the competency standards developed by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry.
- Continually update course curriculum to meet the changing needs of youth and respond to societal forces that influence their understanding of faith.
- Develop and provide resources for the implementation of the components of comprehensive youth ministry (Prayer and Worship, Justice, Peace and Service, Healing, Community Life, Enablement, and Advocacy.)
- Provide opportunities for youth of the diocese to participate in activities outside of their own parish and cluster programs by organizing retreats, mission trips, youth conventions and conferences, in particular Junior and Senior High Diocesan Youth Days.
- Continuously communicate through monthly email updates, web site development and regular mailings to all youth ministers regarding ministerial initiatives.
- Annually develop and organize a weeklong leadership-training program for youth and organize youth minister attendance at conferences by the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministers.
- Work with pastors, parish staff and clusters to better utilize technology to evangelize the young and to advise regarding the perils of current technology in collaboration with appropriate diocesan offices.
- In collaboration with Catholic high school religion teachers and campus ministers plan regular meetings to assess needs, network, and share information; and organize yearly professional development day.
- Actively participate in the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry by attending all regional meeting, serving a 3-year term as Secretary/Treasurer for N.Y. State Region II, organizing with other diocesan directors in N.Y. State a bi-yearly conference for youth minister development and faith formation, and representing the Diocese at national conferences.
- Collaborate with other Diocesan offices by serving as VIRTUS trainer and networking to find areas of collaboration.
- Serve as a member of the Diocesan Access Committee and the CYO Advisory Board.
REQUIREMENTS
- The ideal candidate should possess an advanced Roman Catholic theological competency, such as the MA, in Theology, Religious Studies or related field, should be a practicing Roman Catholic in union with the doctrine, teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, and must be sensitive to the unique ethnic, cultural and racial diversity of the Diocese of Brooklyn.
- Significant experience with adolescent faith formation and working with young people.
- Awareness of current challenges facing adolescents and obstacles to faith formation.
- Familiarity with current technology favored by adolescents with a history of using same to promote adolescent faith formation initiatives. Candidates should also be keenly aware of the perils inherent in current technology used by young people and demonstrate creativity in assisting parishes to educate their young regarding same.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing, public speaking, computer and organizational skills.
- Bi-lingual preferred.

The Coordinator for Administrative Services under the direction of the Secretariat for Human and Information Resources will lead and coordinate the services needed for successful business operations. Services covered will include mail, reception, scheduling, banking, serving as liaison to various vendors and general assistance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee office operations and direct all Administrative Services staff.
- Oversee and direct all processes related to incoming and outgoing mail.
- With the collaboration of various Diocesan Offices will oversee and direct all processes related to the physical deposit of monies to various bank locations.
- With the collaboration of offices within the Secretariat for Human and Information Resources will ensure the accuracy of the DioNet directory.
- Coordinate and track service for equipment under the auspices of Administrative Services.
- Coordinate the availability and services of administrative service staff to assist with ad-hoc projects.
- Coordinate meetings and events and collaborate with vendors or applicable Diocesan agencies as needed
- Serve as a resource for information relating to Administrative Services.
- Coordinate coverage to ensure all necessary administrative services are provided on a daily basis.
- Review, evaluate, and document administrative service procedures.
- Prepare recommendations for improvement and develop procedures accordingly.
- Train staff to properly operate machines and equipment as needed.
- Track and submit Time and Attendance and Payroll Request Forms for staff.
- Maintain accurate databases of information.
- Draft and prepare administration wide communications as needed.
- Process request for payments and maintain all budgetary records for the Secretariat for Human and Information Resources.
- Maintain strict level of confidentiality in regard to all information.
- Deal with diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at levels of the organization.
- Perform all other functions as required by the Secretariat for Human and Information Resources.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs and DioNet.
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and a tendency towards taking initiative.
- Ability to multi-task and delegate duties as needed to ensure administrative service needs are met.
- Experience in supervising and the ability to lead others effectively.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to consistently retain current knowledge of the Central Diocesan Administration’s applicable Departments specialties and responsibilities.
- Familiarity with standard administrative service related practices and procedures.
- 2 year College Degree or 3-4 years commensurate experience.
- Experience with budgets and preparation of same preferred.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
